2 Weeks

We move to Boone, NC in just two weeks. My mind races every day about what to do and how to pack- but mostly how to keep Joshua from getting into trouble. Our apartment is now a playground of excitement for him. Lots of boxes, paper, stacks of things to climb. We to pack everything up and drive our way to the mountains very soon. Any good packing tips out there?

Packing tip: Put your stuff in a box. Throw it on the truck. Repeat as needed. :)

I kid, of course. You have to tape the box shut before you throw it on the truck!

I love you Robyn! If only it were that easy- we have to pack it all in tight and strategically because we will literally be driving up and down the mountains! And, you are right- just put stuff in the boxes and repeat! For a month long!!!

Hey Trace - First of all, everytime I see Joshua I can not get over how adorable he is!!

Anyway- can't believe you are moving in just 2 weeks!!! Of course I am happy to have you closer to me and in our favorite college town! Hopefully we can see you more...

I will be praying for you everyday with all the packing, emotions of leaving, etc. I know it has to be a whirlwind of emotions.

Love you- S

You can't leave my dear friend! Packing tips: Honestly, I think everyone gets to a point where they don't care what is in what box anymore as long as it is packed!....Just make sure you label everything. Phone book pages make for great packing material, especially for in between dishes. Use your towels, sheets, and linens for packing breakable objects. Make sure you have a box or two for immediate items you'll need when you arrive at your new home. Purge what you can. No sense in packing what you do not need or do not use. When you move every year like us you learn a trick or two. :)

A packing tip from the girl who moved 4 times in the first 2 years of marriage (well...really, I must give credit, this tip came from my mother-in-law, who was also a military wife and moved a lot):
Unpack and set up the beds, or whatever you'll be sleeping on the first night there, before anything else. Make the beds/crib first. Because, you're probably going to hit a wall at some point in all of your unpacking and want to just crash and go to bed. That way -- when you get to that point, your bed will be ready and waiting for you, and perhaps more improtantly, when JOSHUA is ready for bed, his will be ready and waiting for him. :-) Love you -- all 3!

Call your friends who are already in Boone and we will come help you with the unpacking :) I am so glad you are coming!!!
Bubble wrap always worked well for me for dishes and such!

Label the contents of each box you pack on three sides and the top so that you don't necessarily have to restack boxes trying to figure out where you labeled it, and what's in it. Giant Tetris is not a game you want to have to play in your new home.

Mark "our bedroom/dresser" or "kid bedroom/closet" and the like, so you can strategically place the boxes in the appropriate room and appropriate spot in the room. List of contents, then, not really necessary. ("kitchen/stove" "kitchen/dish cabinet" "kitchen/food pantry")

But, you probably already knew that. (took me years and several moves to figure out my favorite labeling method).

ALSO, new homes smell different, and make for difficult sleeping the first few nights. I suggest using lavender essential oil in the room *now* to help baby sleep, then set up the same (along with making the beds first) in the new room. He won't sense as much change.

Good luck!

These are some great tips- thanks everyone. I have one week left, and a TON of packing left. Is that possible? I feel like I've packed up an army already. And I thought we didn't have that much :)

Watch out Boone, here come the Greenbergs!
